On April 18th, we hosted our largest webinar of the year with over 170 registrants from across Armenia! We welcomed guest speaker, Dr. Leon Washington, Ph.D., OTR, LMSW, C/NDT, to discuss adaptive equipment to support independent feeding and dressing. Dr. Washington is an Associate Clinical Professor at Texas Woman’s University, and has over 41 years of clinical experience. He has previously served as a U.S Air Force Captain and occupational therapist, serving various populations.
This project is in collaboration with Disability Rights Agenda as part of a grant to support Artsakh Armenian with disabilities in their transition to Armenia. The webinar was meticulously designed for service providers, professional associations, and individual practitioners, with a strong encouragement for representatives from organizations of persons with disabilities to participate. Armenian Sign Language Interpretation was also provided. Post-webinar survey results demonstrated an increase in participant’s confidence in this topic jumping from 58% to 85% after the webinar. Participants requested additional webinars on this topic, demonstrating a large need to further strengthen capacity related to assistive technology.
